Japan-Europe High School Student Exchange Program
Today I just got this very interesting mail from Club Nippon, which is established by the Japanese Embassy in Denmark.
It gives a lucky young person the opportunity of experiencing Japan for whole 5 weeks.
But instead of making you read what I am writting, I will just post the mail I got.
Hope someone will grab this unique chance of seeing Japan.

Japan-Europe High School Student Exchange Program for 2008
As one of the efforts to promote youth exchanges and enhance mutual understanding between Japan and Europe, the Government of Japan is offering the Japan-Europe Mutual Understanding Scholarship Program. In this program, students will take part in a 5-week stay, in which they will take an intensive Japanese course for about a week and a half, attend Japanese high schools where classes are taught in Japanese, stay in Japanese ordinary homes, and experience various other activities in Japan.
Term:
The program is a 5 week program which starts from the end of June to the end of July 2008. This program consists of about 1 week Japanese intensive course, about 3 week study experience at a Japanese high school living with a Japanese host family and a 4-5 day trip to Japanese local cities.
Qualifications:
The applicant should:
(a) be 16 or 17 years of age (as of June 2008), or in the 1st or 2nd grade at high school (=gymnasium) .
(b) be a citizen of Denmark and have no Japanese nationality.
(c) already have a basic knowledge of the Japanese language or be eager to learn it.
(d) have a keen interest in the country and culture of Japan.
(e) have the ability to communicate in English and adapt to Japanese family customs.
(f) have no imminent plan for a long-term stay (one month or longer) in Japan in 2008.
How to Apply:
Applicants should submit the following documents which should arrive at the Embassy of Japan by Thursday 17 April 2008. (Submitting by e-mail or by fax is NOT accepted.)
(1) Application form with a photo (prescribed form)
(2) Certified school records
The Embassy will select potential candidates from submitted documents. The Embassy will then conduct interviews with those candidates.
Notes:
The Embassy will recommend a candidate to Tokyo after the selection, and the final decision will be made in Tokyo.
The Japanese Government will provide air-fares, as well as the cost of insurance, tuition, transportation to high schools, and a trip to the local cities. The participants are expected to provide other personal expenses.
The persons who are selected as the candidate and the substitute by the Embassy should submit photocopies of their passports.
